Position: Senior Accountant

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Position Goal: The Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for tracking Trader Point Christian Schools’ assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. The Senior Accountant/Controller provides insight into financial management and stewardship, ensuring the financial infrastructure supports the delivery of high-quality Christian education in alignment with Traders Point Christian Schools’ mission.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be professing and maturing Christians who enthusiastically support the School’s statement of faith and mission statements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required
  • 3-5 years of Full Cycle Accounting experience (Including Financial Statement Preparation)
  • 1-3 years of experience with QuickBooks (QBO) and FACTS system preferred
  • 1-3 years of Non-Profit Experience
  • 1-3 years of payroll experience
  • Experience in leading or participating in a Statutory Audit
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills 

Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Receivable
    • Process and deposit all cash, checks, and other monetary instruments within QBO & the Bank
    • Assist Advancement with processing and reconciliation of all contributions
  • Month-End Process
    • Lead the full month-end process
      • Accruals, prepaids, and reconciliations
      • Financial statement preparation
      • Preparation of the Department performance vs budget
  • Accounts Payable
    • Assist the Student Billing Coordinator with A/P as needed
  • Payroll
    • Lead the bi-weekly payroll process
    • Process the coaches' stipends, whether via payroll or by issuing checks
  • Statutory Audit
    • Assist in the annual audit process
  • Choice Scholarship Process
    •   Assist as requested with the Choice Scholarship application process
  • Works closely with the Human Resources department regarding changes to staff pay, taxes, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday; 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

Work Status:

  • Exempt, salary, full-time (12 months)
