Located in Whitestown, the fastest growing community in Indiana, TPCS is a fully accredited (ACSI) school serving over 620 students, ages 18 months - 12th grade, from six diverse central Indiana counties. Located on a 25-acre campus, TPCS is training scholars, making disciples and graduating leaders. 

TPCS has held four ribbon cutting ceremonies over the past 5 years commemorating their growth. A state of the art high school with athletic turf, Witham Field, opened its doors in 2017. In 2019, the Reed Athletic Center for strength and conditioning was completed along with the addition of seven new classrooms and in 2020, TPCS expanded once again with a 14,000 sq ft junior high addition. To meet the needs of an ever growing community, TPCS has received a seven-figure private investment to increase academic rigor.

Position: Early Childhood Lead Teacher for 2024-25

Primary responsibility:

This individual is responsible for guiding students as they navigate through social, personal, academic and most importantly spiritual growth.

Position Goal

This individual is responsible for educating students in a manner consistent with our school vision.

This includes preparing students with age appropriate academic experiences to facilitate a

smooth transition into the next age group. Each teacher should have a complete understanding

of the social, emotional, physical and, most importantly, spiritual changes that will occur during

these early years. This individual will take precautions set by the administration to protect

students, equipment, materials, and facilities. A lead teacher will employ a variety of age

appropriate instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the available

resources; and evaluate student progress on a regular basis. A lead teacher must remain current

with up to date technology and technological resources. The teacher will partner with parents in

understanding issues concerning their student’s academic and behavioral progress; and assist

the principal with upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and board

policy.

QUALIFICATIONS

Educational and Experience Requirements:

A lead teacher will have an Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Early Education and

equivalent work experience in the field. If the teacher does not have a Bachelor’s degree in Early

Education, they must be willing to work on attaining this or a CDA to support their degree.

Teacher will also obtain 12 hours of professional development training plus an additional 4 hours

of a certified Bible clock hours over the course of the school year. Teacher will keep a current

Infant/Child CPR and first aid certificate on file.

Qualifying Characteristics:

The teacher is a Christian with an authentic and a mature personal relationship with Jesus

Christ in both their professional and personal life with a calling and commitment to Christian

education. The teacher must have the desire to work closely and nurture a positive relationship

with students, teachers, parents, staff, school administrators and community members. The

teacher must demonstrate respect for all. The ability to exercise good judgment, set a good

example and comply with school standards is a must as well as the ability to deal with sensitive

and confidential issues in a tactful and professional manner. Employee must be able to address 

concerns and offer suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Teachers will:

Report 30 minutes before class and stay 30 minutes after class to prepare and clean the room.

Work the days and hours as assigned by the Principal. Some additional summer hours may be requested.

Prepare and execute age appropriate lessons that will engage, instruct and enrich the students in accordance with the policies and Christian philosophy of Traders Point Christian Academy.

Use the state guidelines and resources from others in the field to aid in reaching goals for lessons.

Encourage an attitude of Christlikeness in all aspects of classroom: lessons; relationships (student, parent, and staff); classroom management, and discipline.

Collaborate with teaching staff to obtain ideas for curriculum integration, student assessments, or to further enhance the EC program.

Plan/implement and communicate with your supervisor the needs in the TPCC building or TPCS building to facilitate programming.

Plan/order the arrangement, appearance, décor, and learning environment of the classroom that is neat, orderly and conducive for learning.

Attend all staff meetings and training sessions that are requested by the supervising principal. Staff meetings are held on a monthly basis for Early Childhood staff. 

Staff will attend staff Bible study as requested by supervising principal. 12 hours of staff in service training plus 4 clock hours of certified Bible course are required for lead teachers.

Evaluate on an ongoing basis the spiritual, social, emotional, and intellectual level of the individual student. 

Teacher will give a formal evaluation 2-3 times a year for each student. In partnering with parents, the fall evaluation will be shared at a conference that will be scheduled. A spring conference may be at the request of the student’s parents or the child’s teacher.

Assist in various public relations events sponsored by the school.

Maintain a current Infant/Child CPR and first aid certification on file.

Implement methods of effectively utilizing the instructional assistant including clear communication and supervision and give input to the EC Principal, as needed, on assistant teachers performance in the classroom.

Work effectively in aiding the lead teacher, including clear communication and duties, as assigned. If conflict should arise, the Matthew 18 principle should be followed as it is described in the TCPS Employee Handbook and teacher will encourage their students to maintain standards of classroom behavior by developing and maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the resources available.
